FAQ for Drivers
Welcome to San Francisco!
If you drive into San Francisco, we recommend finding a place to park, and utilizing transit or rideshare to get around.
On the wedding day, we recommend using our provided shuttles between the hotel and our venues. Our venues are in dense parts of the city where traffic and parking can be difficult to navigate. We don't want you to have to worry about finding parking and getting yourself to the event.
Where do I park?
A few options:
- (convenient) Park at the hotel for $80+fees / day
- (economical) Park overnight at the Embarcadero Plaza for $37/night. Take the California St cable car from the parking garage to the hotel ($8).
- (free) Download Spot Angels (website, app) to find streets where you can leave your car for several days, for free. Take rideshare or transit from your car to the hotel.
If you go with street parking, note that weekend parking restrictions tend to be flexible in the more residential areas - typically west of the venues. Once parked, make sure there is nothing visible in your car from outside, or your windows may be smashed. As a general rule of thumb, the further uphill you go, the safer and cleaner the streets will feel.
Can I drive myself to City Hall?
City Hall has strict times where we are allowed inside the venue. To help keep everything on schedule and ensure you are able to make it inside for the ceremony, we ask that you arrive with the shuttle van from the hotel.
For folks living in the city, all transit leads to Civic Center. If you chose to forgo the hotel shuttle, please ensure you arrive on time.
Can I park near the reception venue?
The Great American Music Hall is a wonderful venue itself, but it is in a notoriously uncomfortable part of the city. If you are not parked in an attended garage, it is likely your car window could get smashed. Also, walking around the venue's neighborhood can be an unpleasant experience.
Shuttles and rideshares will conveniently drop you off and pick you up at the door.
For folks living in the city, we also recommend taking the 49 bus to Van Ness & O'Farrell.
I want the flexibility to come and go for the reception.
But why? It'll be so fun you'll never want to leave! :)
If you need to maximize flexibility, we recommend utilizing one of the many rideshare options.
Is San Francisco safe?
Yes—we love living here and we always feel safe in San Francisco! As with any city, we recommend you are aware of your surroundings and belongings.
We recommend that you do not leave anything visible in your car while it's parked as break-ins are common.
There is a couple hour gap between the ceremony and the reception. If I don't have my car, what will I do?
We will have shuttles that take you between the venues and the hotel. Take a look at the Day of Schedule page for shuttle info, and our FAQ for recommendations for things to do around the city.
